Ferrari with mega offer for Vettel?

In poker for a possible renewal of Sebastian Vettel’s contract Ferrari is probably working on a new Mega offer. A first offer of the Scuderia is said to have previously been rejected by the Heppenheimer.

As the Sports Picture reports, Ferrari wants to bring the contract extension of Vettel under the roof and compartment in time for the home GP of Monza on September 3rd. Currently, however, talks between the four-time World Champion and his current employer have stalled.

“I have agreed with my team not to talk about contracts at the moment, but to concentrate entirely on the title race,” Vettel himself is quoted. Even an initial offer of a pension contract with the Italian car manufacturer is said to have already been rejected by Vettel. His current contract is only dated until the end of 2017.

Vettel is waving money rain

Reason enough for Ferrari to now move on to the lucrative big offensive. An annual monster salary of 35 million euros is currently in place. At the moment, the World Cup leader is collecting “only” 25 million euros.

Besides the financial arguments, Vettel’s sports perspective should be the main focus. For the last two years, Vettel has only followed in the Ferrari. The dominant Mercedes-Boliden did not pass by.

The positive trend in the current season (three victories from six races) could now give the result for an extension. In the absence of an agreement, the Scuderia threatens to lose its number one driver to direct competition. Both Mercedes and McLaren will have the Germans on their screen. The latter hope to return to the top teams with new engines from next season.
