Lewis Hamilton has secured the best time of the day in training for the Grand Prix of Monaco. The World Champion also finished the second unit, long damaged by rain, before his Mercedes-Stallrival Nico Rosberg.
Third on the wet track became the four-time Formula One Champion Sebastian Vettel in the Ferrari. Force-India driver Nico Hullkenberg occupied square nine on the narrow course of the city. After the surprising second rank in the first training, for the 17-year-old Toro-Rosso pilot Max Verstappen reached position seven in the afternoon.
Hamilton & Co. had been forced to do nothing for a long afternoon. After a crash by Manor-Pilot Roberto Merhi into the control panel, where the Spaniard remained unharmed, the second training was temporarily stopped. Then the rain started. It wasn’t until about half an hour before the end of the unit that it cleared up. The teams were busy trying to dry the boxing lanes with hairdryers, wipers and vacuum cleaners.
