Mercedes boss expects a tough race

The German racing centre Mercedes travels to Montreal with rather slower expectations for the Grand Prix from Canada.

In view of the route, it could be a tricky race for us,”said Mercedes motor sports director Toto Wolff before the seventh season.

After the problems in Monaco, where World Champion Sebastian Vettel in Ferrari took the lead on Mercedes-Star Lewis Hamilton, Wolff appealed: “We need to set our goals, work with the existing data and then find the right solutions. Some of these solutions are short-term, others may take a little longer.”

In the classification, four-time World Champion Vettel leads after three wins in six races with 25 points ahead of Triple Champion Hamilton. In Monte Carlo, the Brit had not been able to cope with his car at all and saved only a few points thanks to a strong chase from square 13 to 7.

In Montreal Hamilton could already win five times in his career. Last in the last two years. Vettel, on the other hand, won only one victory at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve on the Ile Notre-Dame.

This time Vettel and his teammate Kimi Vrikkings –second in Monte Carlo –are considered to be the first candidates for the victory in Canada. It hurts, but we’re not the favorites in the World Cup this year. At the moment the Ferrari is,”said Wolff.
