Maximilian Philipp was one of the winners of the winter preparations at Borussia Dortmund. The offensive player was in the starting eleven for the Bundesliga rear-round contract of the BVB at RB Leipzig (1:0). Against Hannover 96, he hopes for another bet, preferably on the ten position.
“Frankly, it is my favorite position. In Freiburg we had a double peak, but the coach always demanded that I fall back and participate in the game building, because I get better value there,”Philipp explained at”BVB-TV”.
Against Leipzig Philipp only moved to the start eleven in a short time, After Captain Marco Reus had to cancel due to injury. In the duel with the Lower Saxons, however, Reus is probably back in the BVB-Kader. So it’s possible that Philipp has to go soft. On the outdoor track, of course, I can also play,”he admitted.
At the beginning of the season, Dortmund’s trainer Lucien Favre also tested the 24-year-old in the top of the storm, but with moderate success:”The storm was not like this for me now. We have enough good stormers,”said Philipp.
Maximilian Philipp:”The round personally did not go so well for me”
In the current season Philipp was in twelve league games in the field, seven times he was allowed to run up from the beginning. He only got one hit. Comparison: In the previous season, the 24-year-old with nine hits was one of the most dangerous BVB players.
“The round did not go so well for me personally because I did not play so much. In the end, in particular, I have been less and less used. This is also frustrating when the team is very successful and you yourself hardly contribute to it,”said Philipp. Now he wants to “attack again” and “show more” in order to get to the train more often.
The role as a supplement player, however, the native Berliner had to first learn. “The role of the original Berliner When I was fit, I was in the box,”Philipp remembered the time at his former clubs. Anders in Dortmund: “Here is of course a huge competitive situation, for me this was unusual. I have to learn to deal with it. The self-doubt begins quickly.”
